Forsaken Souls is available both as a printed, physical book, as well as an e-book in PDF format. All puzzles are designed in a way that they can be played both on screen and on paper.

Is Internet access required?
Internet access is not required.
You don’t need an internet connection in order to validate your answers or move from one puzzle to the other; you can use the Key Validation system of the book instead.
If you do have internet access, it can help speed things up.
There are some puzzles that require some knowledge in uncommon fields, typically at the last step of solving the puzzle, such as cryptography throughout the ages and psychology. In these cases the internet can definitely come in handy to help you get some answers.

How do I know if I have solved a puzzle correctly?
If you don’t have internet access, you can use the book’s Validation System, which only requires some basic mathematic calculations. You can do them either with a paper and a pencil, or use a calculator for convenience.
If you do have internet access, the easiest and fastest way to verify your answers is to visit the book’s website.

Do I need to solve each puzzle before moving on to the next?
Almost all puzzles are self-contained. You can play about 98% of the puzzles in this book in any order you want, without checking if your answers to previous puzzles are correct.
There are however a few puzzles, mostly placed towards the end of the book, that require you to have found the correct answers to previous puzzles. The final puzzle that reveals the end of the story is one of them.

How is this book different from other puzzle books?
Most of the puzzles are designed using a combination of different mechanics. Each puzzle typically combines three different mechanics in a series of steps.
Also, the story is right at the core of the book. Not only there is an extensive background to the setting and characters, but also the story elements are critical to finding the solutions of many puzzles.

Both the puzzles and the story of the book were created for an adult audience. The story keeps getting darker as it unravels, and most puzzles are probably too challenging for young children.

Are any special skills required to solve the puzzles?
All you need is a basic literacy of math, logic and language. That said, prepare to be challenged! Although there are puzzles of varying levels of difficulty, in general they probably won’t be a piece of cake to solve.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
